Dynamo opened their defence of the Charity Cup with an emphatic win over Sileby Town and have hopefully laid down the foundations to build on for their upcoming league games.

As would be expected it was the Northern Premier League side who dominated the early game, but for all their possession Dynamo were unable to break down Sileby’s defence and Sileby struggled to get forward getting caught offside on a number of occasions. In the twentieth minute Louis Hamilton and Ash Way played a one two on the edge of Sileby’s area, Hamilton hammering in a shot that crashed against the Sileby crossbar, Dave Blenkinsopp netting the rebound but the effort was ruled out for offside. Sileby then got their movement right and a through ball played Martin Hamner through but Kahil Mann-Kler quickly off his line to clear the danger. Dynamo continued to press and scored the opening goal in the thirty fourth minute, Jake Betts knocking a through ball for Blenkinsopp to run onto he held off the challenge of two Sileby defenders and hammered the ball past Andy Perry.

Sileby opened the second half in a more determined mood and in the opening minute Tom Marriott was fouled on the edge of Dynamo’s area but the free kick went over the bar. Minutes later from a Dynamo corner Betts got in an header only to see the ball cleared off the line, Sileby began to have their best period of play and Dynamo were unable to get their game going has they gave away the ball and wanted to take one touch to many all over the field. A good Sileby move resulted in Chris Wilson firing in a shot but Mann-Kler pushed the effort out for a corner. Sileby got their just reward in the sixty sixth minute when a Ball into the Dynamo’s area was not cleared by a hesitant defence, Wilson got onto the loose ball and hit a goal bound shot, Marriott getting the final touch before the ball crossed the line for the equaliser. Sileby’s goal gave Dynamo a proverbial kick up the backside and within two minutes they had restored their lead when Blenkinsopp netted his and Dynamo’s second. The game was effectively over in the seventy seventh minute when Betts burst out of defence and surged forward with the ball before pulling it back from the dead ball line and Matt Langham netted Dynamo’s third. Dynamo pressed forward and Perry produced a number of saves before Hamilton curled a low shot into the net to add Dynamo’s fourth. Dynamo put the icing on the cake in the final minute, Blenkinsopp being denied his hat trick by a Parry save but Betts headed home the resultant corner.
