For the second time in three seasons Dynamo exited the Doodson Sports Cup, the Nothern Premier League's own cup competition, at the quarter final stage

However the game is not one that will live in anyone’s memories for long, with neither side playing inspiring football.

Frickley had the majority of the attacking play and had a couple of chances to add to their score whilst Dynamo only shone for short periods and although they had goal chances they never tested the home custodian.

The opening period saw both teams probing the opposition looking for an opening, but the defences were well on top and neither keeper had a shot to save.

The first opportunity of the game was around the mid way mark when a Frickley ball split Dynamo’s defence and Gavin Allott looked to be through on goal but a great recovering tackle by Jake Betts took the ball off his feet before he could shoot.

Minutes later his strike partner Luke Hinsley had a mazy run but Dynamo’s defence shepherded him along the eighteen yard line and his final shot was wide of the target.

At the other end Dynamo's Jarrod Westcarr set up Nathan Watson but he hit his shot wide.

With thirty minutes gone Allott was played through and was one on one with Kahil Mann-Kler but the keeper got his angles right and the blocked the shot.

However in the thirty third minute the stalemate was broken when Frickley played a similar ball to Allott, Mann-Kler rushed out to close the angle and the players collided. The ball broke to Joe Wilcox who struck it from the edge of the area into the net.

Dynamo tried to get back into the game , Westcarr crossing the ball for Kris Nurse but his header was blocked. Then a quick break released Westcarr who hit his shot against a defender and the ball spun to Nurse but he did not have time to steady himself and got no power behind his shot.

Four minutes after the restart Frickley netted their second . Andy Villermann brought the ball out of defence and made a run forward, played a one two with Allott, and placed the ball past Mann-Kler.

Dynamo tried to press forward in search of a goal but it was Frickley who had the majority of the possession and they had a chance to add to their score when Allott beat the offside but one on one with Mann-Kler the keeper again came out on top.

In stoppage time an incident between Frickley's Luke Hinsley and Dynamo's Connor Hughes resulted in both players being sent off.
