Luke Smithson opened the scoring in the fourth minute, running clear of the Basford back line to slot home. Steve Towers scored the goal of the match in the 18th minute, firing home an outstanding shot from outside the penalty area.
New signing James Lindley produced two good saves in this half to prevent Basford getting on the scoresheet, but Dynamo could have extended their lead in the 41st minute, when Nathan Watson chipped just over.
The second half saw many substitutions, with Dynamo adding three more goals through a Rob Norris hat trick. His first was the conversion of a 47th minute penalty, the second coming four minutes later with a far post tap in.
Basford then threatened Dynamo's goal twice in as many minutes. First they hit the post, then shot narrowly wide. These were the only two occasions in the second half that Alex Pycock, who was in goal for the whole of the second 45 minutes, was troubled.
Norris's hat trick was completed in the 76th minute through another penalty.
