In an enjoyable encounter at the Nanpantan Sports Ground on Tuesday night Loughborough Dynamo overcame Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division Sileby Town 3-1 in the first round of this season's Loughborough Charity Cup.

In the opening ten minutes the home side came close to opening the scoring, with Sam Wood, Rob Norris and Brad Munn all prominent, shots from Norris and Munn going over.

Dynamo opened the scoring in the thirteenth minute, Munn's powerful header from a right wing centre beating Sileby Town goalkeeper Matt Baker.

Five minutes later a good save from Baker denied Munn from doubling the score.

The twentieth minute saw Sileby's Matt Jelly come in from the left and shoot over.

Dynamo hit the post through Munn two minutes later following good buildup.

Sileby came back and two corners in quick succession into Dynamo's six hard box caused problems for home goalkeeper Alex Pycock before being cleared.

Dynamo then claimed the upper hand for the majority of the remainder of the first half. Wood fired a long range effort wide, then good play by Dynamo enabled Munn to get off a shot which was just off target.

Sileby threatened in the closing stages of the half, Mike Hendey first shooting into the side netting, then drawing a save from Pycock, the home side going into the interval with a goal advantage.

Dynamo came out of the blocks at a fast pace for the second half, and scored twice within five minutes of the restart. In the forty-seventh minute Rob Norris drove home a great free kick, then two minutes later from a similar position Norris shot again, Baker got both hands to the ball but the pace carried it over him into the net.

Sileby drew a goal back in the fifty-sixth minute, a Hendey free kick out on the left was driven across the penalty area and eluded everyone to give the visitors a boost, and three minutes later Hendey worked his way through to go one on one with Pycock, the goalkeeper making a good save.

The match became end to end, with Dynamo having the better chances. A long range shot from Wood drew a good save from Baker, then substitute Lee Morris saw his cross shot hit the bar with Baker beaten.

Matt Langham was unlucky to see his shot, while being tackled, beat Baker and then cleared off the line by Lee Carrigan, Baker then saving well from Morris after Luke Smithson set him clear.

Overall an enjoyable game, with Sileby being excellent representatives of the Leicestershire Senior League.
