However it was Romulus that looked the more likely to grab the opening goal, only wayward finishing from Mykel Beckely and Marcus Brown allied to two great saves from Laurie Pearson prevented this from happening. Wit twenty minutes of the game gone Dynamo had their best opportunity when a neat passing move resulted in Mitch Williams firing over. Romulus failed to heed the warning and four minutes later Williams picked the ball up in midfield played a one two with Karl Adams and picked his spot, from a tight angle, to put Dynamo one up. Dynamo failed to capitalise on their good fortune and six minutes later slack defending let in Ashley Jackson who skipped by three players before hammering the ball past Pearson. Both sides pushed forward Luke Edwards shooting wide for Dynamo whilst Gavin Day fired in a low effort that Pearson gathered. Romulus grabbed the crucial second goal in time added on when a far post cross found an unmarked Brown who made hit the ball home.
The second half, although not as intense as the first, still saw both sides carve out half chances, Romulus having the best chance to score when a run by Brown resulted in him putting a low ball across the face of Dynamo’s goal but no one was there to tap the ball home. Karl Noble produced a similar effort for Dynamo but again no one was able to take the chance. With fourteen minutes remaining a run from Brown opened up Dynamo’s defence and he finished with aplomb. Dynamo now threw caution to the wind and pushed players forward but in the eighty fourth minute they lost possession when taking a short corner and a Romulus clearance found an unmarked Brown who netted his hat-trick. In the final minutes Romulus opened Dynamo up and would have added more if it was not for Pearson making some heroic saves. Dynamo pulled a consolation goal back in time added on when Jake Dale-Brown headed home from a corner.
