For the second game in a row, Loughborough Dynamo had to rely on their second half performance to get them a result in today’s 2-2 draw away at Stapenhill FC.
In what was Dynamo’s final away game of pre-season, they started sluggishly. It took just 8 minutes for the Stapenhill number 7 to be played through in the box and his shot found the bottom right-hand corner.
And just four minutes later, the Moes conceded a penalty after the referee gave a foul when Curtis Burrows tangled with a Stapenhill forward. Despite Rabstein guessing the right way and getting a hand to the penalty, he couldn’t keep it out.
After that, Dynamo did start to have some chances which required the Stapenhill keeper to make some good saves. Both Collins and Nesbitt had good shots saved before half time.
At halftime, the game turned on its head. A triple substitution by Lee Attenborough at the break brought fresh impetus to the Dynamo team and the second half was all one-way traffic.
The Moes creativity improved in the second half with both Dan Collins and Tristan Matthews receiving the ball in good areas and having chances that made the keeper work.
And midway through the second half, Dynamo’s pressure paid off with Curtis Burrows receiving the ball from Danny Gordon on the edge of the penalty area and his shot found the bottom left-hand corner.
Dynamo kept pressing and didn’t let up, and the equaliser eventually came in the 83rd minute when Andre Williams got on the end of Curtis Burrow’s corner to make it 2-2.
The Moes will be hoping to address the issue of their slow starts in their final two friendlies at home to Mickleover and Lincoln United before their competitive season starts in just two weeks’ time!
