On a very wet, slippy surface Dynamo had the better of the opening exchanges and their first chance came when Luke Edwards squared the ball to Jaylee Hodgson whose shot was cleared off the line. Elliott Shilliam then denied Edwards with a stunning save before a long clearance caught Dynamo and Tony Thorpe curled his shot past the unsighted Laurie Pearson on 12 mins. Dynamo were having the lions share of possession and a Ash Way cross was sliced by Hinckley fullback Leon Fray only for Shilliam to produce a stunning save to deny Dynamo an equaliser. Ex Dynamo player Alex Johnson produced a speculative shot which landed on top of the net before Shilliam again denied both Edwards and Hodgson with good saves.
The second half followed the same pattern with Dynamo having more possession but failing miserably in the final third with over hit, under hit or simply wayward passing. Dynamo’s best move of the second period came on 75 mins when Karl Noble, Jack Roberts and William Grocott exchanged passes leading to a one on one between Roberts and Shilliam, the Hinckley keeper winning again at the expense of a corner. With Dynamo now throwing caution to the wind in their efforts to equalise Hinckley caught Dynamo on the break and Luke Plummer raced clear but over hit his cross to the unmarked Ant Robinson and Robinson twice found himself with a one on one with Pearson but the Dynamo keeper rescued his team with excellent saves. In time added Dynamo had their last chance when a Noble shot was deflected straight to the safe hands of Shilliam, perhaps a fitting end for the man of the match.
