Dynamo Win Charity Cup

Dynamo started much the brighter and Matt Langham headed wide following a cross from Ash Way. Karl Noble broke up play in midfield and released Edwards whose lob just failed to clear the Barrow custodian, Adam Wilcox. Good play down Dynamo’s right by Callum Ross released Edwards whose cross cum shot evaded everyone. Sam Sharrocks shot wide for Barrow before Jon Coppard hit a free kick over Dynamo’s bar. The first 30 mins being a cagey affair with neither keeper called on to make a save. Way outstripped the Barrow defence on 35 mins but his cross to the edge of Barrow’s six yd box evaded everyone. Noble who was instrumental in Dynamo’s midfield again broke up a Barrow move and his astute pass found Edwards wide right and the striker cut inside a hit a powerful shot from 20yds which dipped and swerved past Wilcox to give Dynamo the half time lead.

Dynamo should have extended their lead within 2 mins of the restart when Edwards broke through the Barrow back line and delivered a cross to Ross who shot wide when well placed. Within a few mins ex Dynamo player Carl Adams, who was clearly in an offside position, broke clear but was tripped just outside the Dynamo box: the direct free kick hitting the Dynamo wall and cleared to safety. Almost immediately another Barrow free kick on the edge of the box suffered the same fate. Back came Dynamo and good interchange between Noble and Langham allowed the latter to play in Way whose powerful shot was just over. It was end to end play during this period and Michael Paparozzi played in Shorrocks whose cross was cut out by Danny Jenno. Craig Noble then hit a speculative effort well wide before a better strike had Kahil Mann-Kerr scrambling to cover his post. A way cross then fell kindly to Edwards but the strikers shot was blocked and cleared. The introduction of Liam Fitzpatrick and Reuben Joseph-Walker for Barrow lived up proceeding in the final 10 mins and good play between Craig Noble and Adams led to the latter’s shot being blocked before Fitzpatrick played in Craig Noble who shot wide from an acute angle. The referee then called an end to a cagey final of few clear cut chances.
