Dynamo applied the early pressure but it was Hucknall who had the first chance when from a free kick they played the ball into Grant Ryan, but his shot was blocked at the expense of a corner. Moments later neat inter play between Matthieu Isamene and Callum Lloyd needed a timely tackle from Danny Jenno to prevent Hucknall finding away through Dynamo’s defence. At the other end, following a Dynamo corner, Scott Mooney had a shot blocked the ball coming out to Jacob Blackwell whose cross was headed home by Jake Betts, but the referee disallowed the effort for an infringement within the crowded penalty area. After a hectic start it was Hucknall who opened the scoring when a long ball forward found Ryan, who looked a good yard offside, however the flag stayed down Ryan kept his calm and slide the ball past Sam Knot. For the next twenty minutes both teams played the ball around probing for an opening but neither team was able to create an anything. In the thirty eighth minute Dynamo played the ball out wide to Will Grocott whose mazy run took him past two defenders before he pulled the ball back to Mitch Williams, who from twenty five yards out, steadied himself before firing a low shot into the corner of the net.
The start of the second half saw Hucknall pushing forward and Joe Pheasant hit a goal bound shot only to see his effort charged down. In the fifty third minute, a Hucknall attack down, full back Carl Sibson broke forward but lost the ball, however Hucknall’s clearance went to Blackwell, who played the ball through Hucknall’s defence to Sibson, who had stayed up front, and he calmly lobbed the advancing Hucknall keeper to put Dynamo in front. From the re-start Hucknall played the ball to Pheasant who made a surging run, Betts committed himself and Pheasant went past him with ease but then hurried his shot and it flew wide. Dynamo then created three good chances and should have put the game out of Hucknall’s reach but efforts from Grocott and Mooney all went wide of the target. Just past the midway point of the second half and Hucknall made Dynamo pay for their extravagance when, following a throw in deep in Dynamo’s half, Isamene got onto the end of a far post cross to net the equaliser. Both sides went for the winner and with five minutes to go Dynamo stopped a Hucknall attack and broke up field Matt Langham finding Grocott who laid the ball into Dale-Brown’s path and from the edge of the area he struck the ball and it flew into the net. Dynamo still had work to do but ensured that Hucknall failed to trouble them in the remaining time, plus five minutes of time added on.
