Loughborough Dynamo got their first win of the new season as they beat Daventry Town 4-0 away.
Dynamo battled through torrential rain for nearly all the game and they were fortunate the game could be completed with the referee admitting there were times when he thought the game might have to be abandoned.
Loughborough did struggle to get going for the first ten minutes and could have been two or three goals down as the home side started brightly.
However, goalkeeper Lewis King made a number of good saves throughout the game to make sure Dynamo came away with their first clean sheet of the season.
Dynamo grew into the game the longer the first half went on and they went ahead in the 28th minute. Kevin Bastos attempted an audacious overhead kick which the keeper spilt and Isaac Stones was there to score his first ever goal for Dynamo and make it 1-0.
The second half started in much the same way as the first with Daventry pushing for an equaliser. However, a couple of goal line scrambles and a few saves by Lewis King was as close as they got.
After Dynamo successfully weathered the storm that Daventry threw at them they were able to push forward and ensure they came away with the three points.
Just before the hour mark, Kevin Bastos received the ball 25 yards out and his shot took a deflection off the defender and found the bottom corner.
That goal seemed to give Bastos confidence and from then on he was by far the best player on the pitch. 13 minutes before the end he beat his man in the box and was bundled over and the referee gave a penalty.
Bastos stepped up and converted the penalty to get his second goal of the game.
The scoring didn’t end there either as Dynamo saved the best till last. James Tague, who had only been on the pitch ten minutes, scored the goal of the game with a left foot curled effort from more than 25 yards out that looped over the keeper and in to make it 4-0.
After the game Head Coach Brad Munn was delighted with the result and the performance and he urged his team to use it as a confidence builder heading into their next few games.
