Our take on Tuesday nights home victory

Loughborough Dynamo showed a different side to their game as they battled hard to earn a 1-0 win at home to Chasetown.

It was their second win in a week after beating Daventry 4-0 away last Tuesday, but The Moes had to show different qualities in order to get the three points in this game.

Dynamo were suffering from a number of injuries going into the game against Chasetown and so handed a full debut to attacking player Jack Oldham. And it was Oldham who opened the scoring after just 13 minutes when James Tague dispossessed Chasetown in midfield then set Kevin Bastos away down the left and his cross found Jack Oldham in the box who made it 1-0.

That goal gave Loughborough something to protect, and they did just that. For the remaining 75 minutes of the game Chasetown pushed and were desperately trying to find a way back into the game but Dynamo stood firm.

Goalkeeper Lewis King made a number of good saves to keep Chasetown out and together with the goaline clearances and times Chasetown hit the woodwork, Chasetown were kept at bay.

It wasn’t all one-way traffic however, as Dynamo did have chances to extend their lead as they looked to hit Chasetown on the counter attack as the second half wore on. Midfielder Charlie Young found himself in space in the box, but his shot hit the bar before the keeper gathered the rebound from Rob Norris.

The final kick of the game pretty much summed up how the game had gone as a Chasetown attacker found a yard of space and unleashed a shot on goal. A Dynamo defender stuck his leg out and deflected the ball past Lewis King in goal, but the ball crashed off the base of the post and back into the keeper’s arms.

After the game, Loughborough Dynamo Head Coach Brad Munn spoke of his pride in his team’s performance and how he was pleased for his players after they showed an immense amount of hard work and willingness to fight for each other.

Two wins in a row for Loughborough Dynamo will have filled them with confidence as they go into a Bank Holiday Weekend that sees them play twice, starting with an away trip to Yaxley followed by a home Dynamo Derby as they host Shepshed Dynamo.
