Loughborough Dynamo’s good run of form continued as they beat Yaxley 3-0 away from home writes James Kendrick.
The result saw The Moes pass 300 minutes since they last conceded a goal, and they will be hoping that this will be the foundation for a solid season.
Yaxley came into the game on the back of a 9-1 defeat in midweek and so it was important for Dynamo to start quickly in order to capitalise on any hangover Yaxley may have had.
And just four minutes in, Dynamo were ahead. Aaron Cole, who was making his full debut for the Moes, did well in the box to set Brandon Webster up on the edge of the box and his low strike found the bottom right-hand corner to make it 1-0.
Dynamo struggled to maintain their early intensity after going ahead and this allowed Yaxley an opportunity to get back into the game. Just before half time Yaxley should have been level as they had two really good opportunities as their strikers were found unmarked in the area but on both occasions, they blazed their shots over the bar.
In some ways, the 3-0 scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story of the game as Dynamo struggled to exert much dominance in the game for the first hour. However, when club captain Rob Norris came on, he ran the midfield and helped Dynamo make the scoreline look a lot more comfortable.
With just 20 minutes to go James Tague picked up on a loose ball and scored an excellent long range effort from the edge of the box to make it 2-0 before Isaac Stones headed home from close range from a Rob Norris corner to seal the win.
The result was a good start to Bank Holiday weekend and it was a pleasing result and performance especially considering there were a number of changes made ahead of the Dynamo Derby on Monday.
