Dynamo came from 2-0 down to 2-2 but couldn’t prevent a Corby winner

An extremely disappointing first half performance contributed to another defeat for Loughborough Dynamo leaving them with just four wins from their last 22 games after a 3-2 defeat to Corby Town.

Goals in the first half an hour from former Dynamo player Danny Gordon and Toby Hillard set the tone and despite Dynamo pulling the game back to 2-2 they couldn’t prevent another Corby goal from Tsaguim Florian to win it.

A late red card for Dynamo goalkeeper Lewis King also adds to the Moes list of problems with King now suspended for next Saturday’s home game against Bedworth.

Both teams came into the game in poor form. Neither Loughborough or Corby had taken more than five points from their last six games and so both sides were desperate for a win.

But for most of the first half, it looked like only one team would win. Corby started strongly as they looked to avenge their two defeats to Loughborough back in September.

And they were ahead after just 12 minutes. Former Dynamo player Danny Gordon took a free kick from 25 yards out that crashed off the crossbar and into the goal to make it 1-0.

Going a goal down didn’t seem to help Dynamo either as Corby kept pushing for more goals why the hosts struggled to make chances.

And just after the half hour mark it was 2-0. A cross came into the box from the right hand side and Toby Hillard poked it home to double Corby’s lead.

A Dynamo free kick deep into first half stoppage time did provide Loughborough with some hope as Ollie Clark headed the ball home from the free kick to make it 2-1 at half time.

At half time, Loughborough manager Brad Munn brought on striker Eddie Bamfo to try and get back into the game. And his decision worked within the first three minutes of the half as Bamfo ghosted into the box and scored from close range to get Dynamo back on level terms at 2-2.

However, after getting the goal back, Dynamo reverted back to how they played in the first half and Corby controlled the game again.

And they retook the lead on the hour mark as Tsaguim Florian scored from inside the box to make it 3-2.

And Dynamo’s afternoon went from bad to worse late on when Lewis King raced out of his box to challenge for the ball, and the ball hit his arm and the referee sent him off for deliberate hand ball.

The red card did seem to rally the Moes and they played a bit better when they were down to ten men. But they never really looked like grabbing an equaliser and Corby couldn’t make the most of facing an outfield player in goal and so it finished 3-2.
