Our report from Saturday’s 1-1 draw

Loughborough Dynamo came away with a point at play off chasing Boldmere St Michael’s.

Boldmere’s artificial pitch meant the game could go ahead on a day when few other games got played giving both teams a chance to get a positive result heading into Christmas.

The home side came into the game in fifth and showed their playoff credentials straight from the off as they dominated possession and controlled the game.

And it didn’t take long for them to take the lead. Striker Owen Parry opened the scoring for Boldmere after just 11 minutes as his low shot from the right-hand side of the box found its way in at the near post.

For large periods of the first half, Dynamo struggled to get out of their own half and didn’t really have a chance to test the keeper.

As has been the case in a few games recently, Dynamo improved in the second half and had spells where they dominated the game.

Boldmere kept pushing for a second goal to kill the game off and Dynamo had goalkeeper Lewis King to thank for keeping them in it, but this also opened up space for Dynamo to counter attack.

And in the 57th minute Dynamo equalised. An excellent ball in from the left from Brandon Webster was met at the back post by Princewill Ogunmekan to make it 1-1.

The final stages of the game were set up nicely as both sides pushed to win the game. Boldmere came the closest in injury time, but Lewis King was there to keep the ball out.

Loughborough Dynamo manager Brad Munn was pleased with the point and is hopeful that it will be a springboard for more as Dynamo head into the festive fixtures.
