Our take on a disappointing night in Boldmere

Loughborough Dynamo slipped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat away at Boldmere St Michaels on Tuesday night.

Boldmere took the lead midway through the first half thanks to William Shorrock who finished off a decisive breakaway from the home side.

The scoreline was then made to look more comfortable in the second half as James Spiers and Owen Parry grabbed goals put the game beyond Dynamo’s reach.

The result means that Loughborough are still looking for their first win of the season as they head into a big bank holiday weekend of football as they host Cambridge City on Saturday before travelling to Shepshed Dynamo in the first Dynamo Derby of the season on August Bank Holiday Monday.

The game got off to a slow start with both sides struggling to create many clear-cut chances. When Dynamo did get forward, they always looked vulnerable to a quick counter attack and this is what happened mid-way through the first half when a Dynamo set piece was won by a Boldmere play and they instantly broke up the pitch.

Boldmere moved the ball well and found William Shorrock in the box who scored and made it 1-0 to the home side.

Jack Gibson has arguably been one of the best Dynamo players so far this season, and again he seemed to be involved in a lot of the positive things the Moes were doing. Gibson got into a good position at a set piece where he headed over the bar before a few minutes later being pulled over in the box but the referee wasn’t convinced it was a penalty.

Dynamo manager Tom Hayes was also forced into a first half change just before the interval as defender Mitchell Robinson had to come off injured and was replaced by Charlie Jemson.

The second half was a slower, more sedate affair with few chances coming and the changes from both benches struggled to have an impact on the game.

Midway through the second half, the result was put beyond doubt when James Spiers doubled his sides advantage.

Dynamo continued to look for ways back into the game and came closest to equalising when Jemson hit the crossbar at a corner. But the scoreline was made to look a lot more favourable for Boldmere with nine minutes to go when Owen Parry scored and the game finished 3-0.
