Our take on our Derby Day win.

Loughborough Dynamo’s good run of form continued with a derby day victory at AFC Quorn.

A solid defensive performance away from home at Farley Way helped The Moes claim a 2-0 victory.

The result sees Loughborough Dynamo climb into second place in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division just two points behind leaders Spalding.

Ahead of the game the significance of the match was clear. It was fourth vs third in the league and even MP Jane Hunt was at the game.

Neither side were well prepared as the game kicked off with both sides suffering injuries in the warmup that required the starting lineups to be tweaked.

But that didn’t stop the two teams from going for it from the off with both sides hitting the woodwork in the first ten minutes.

As the game settled down it was the home side on top and they controlled the game and looked the most threatening.

However, Tom Hayes’ Loughborough side has developed a real resilience over the last ten games and have become extremely hard to break down.

They have also learnt how to score when the opposition are on top and that’s what happened here when David Chapman got on the end of a Rob Norris free kick and beat the keeper to give Loughborough the lead.

The second half was very much more of the same with Quorn dominating but not able to break the Dynamo defence down.

As can quite often be the case, Lewis King was on fine form in goal for The Moes and he made some good saves to ensure a fifth clean sheet of the season.

Just past the hour mark, Quorn fell asleep at a set piece for the second time and this time it was Gianluca Bucci in the box to fire home and double the away sides advantage.

The scoreline means that Dynamo are now nine unbeaten in all competitions after 90 minutes and now will have to be taken seriously in any play-off conversation.
