A dramatic late comeback at Rugby Town helped Loughborough Dynamo go joint top of the league.
After going behind in the first half to a strike from full back Dan Summerfield, an 82nd minute equaliser from Evan Garnett and a 96th minute own goal winner from former Dynamo player Roger Lee turned the game around.
The result means that Dynamo are now eight league games unbeaten and it’s now only goal difference separating the Moes from top spot in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division.
Rugby Town came into the game having lost all of their last seven league games and they sat just one spot above the bottom.
But they more than held their own in the first half and stayed resolute with Loughborough unable to break them down.
And it was the home side who had the better chances as well. Lewis King was called into action early on before Jordan Wilson hit the bar.
Right on the half hour mark it was the home side who were ahead as Danny Summerfield fired past Lewis King to give his side the lead.
However, the second half was a totally different story. Loughborough were well on top and wave after wave of attack came at the Rugby goal as they struggled to get out of their own half.
For a while it looked like it just wasn’t going to be Loughborough’s day as chance after chance went begging and their supporters can be forgiven for almost losing hope when the team hit the crossbar twice in the space of a few seconds.
But with eight minutes to go, Dynamo were finally level. After struggling with the final ball all game, Evan Garnett ghosted into the six yard box and had a simple tap in to equalise from a low cross.
After that there was only ever going to be one winner and it came with almost the final kick of the game. Substitute Mo Bangura did well down the left to get into the box and his cross was turned home by former Moe Roger Lee.
The winning goal sparked jubilant scenes from both the team and fans alike and after the game both manager Tom Hayes and his assistant John Ramshaw were delighted with the team spirit on show.
