Anstey 2-1 Dynamo

Loughborough Dynamo fell to their first league defeat in four months at Anstey Nomads on Boxing Day.

Despite The Moes taking the lead on the verge of half time, a second half turnaround from the home side gave them all three points.

Ahead of kick off this was third against fourth and despite both sides staying in their respective positions, Anstey have now opened up a five point gap on their local rivals.

The game started in exciting fashion and stayed like that all through the ninety minutes. Right from the start, both teams were getting in behind and looking threatening in this Boxing Day cracker.

Both sides tried to play football on what was a very poor pitch which meant both sides struggled to play the way they wanted too.

Despite being under pressure for the majority of the first half, it was Loughborough who went in ahead after George Ball fired home from the edge of the box on the verge of half time.

Anstey weren’t going to take defeat lying down though and they came out fighting in the second half but for the first 15 minutes Dynamo held them off well.

But the game changed midway through the half when Evan Garnett pounced on a loose ball back to the Anstey keeper and tried to round the keeper instead of shooting and eventually lost the ball.

That gave Anstey the believe that they really could get something out of the game and soon after they were level.

Anstey pumped a high free kick into the box that wasn’t dealt with and Ant Lynn was there to turn the ball home.

Just 14 minutes later, Anstey were ahead through Freddie Robinson as another high ball caused problems and a goalmouth scramble saw the ball end up in the net.

Dynamo had a number of chances late on to equalise but Conrad Logan in the Anstey goal made a number of key saves.
