SATURDAY’S draw at Stocksbridge Park Steels was “positive” but Dynamo’s management came away feeling disappointed not to have three points in the bag.

“I think we had good enough chances and put enough good balls across the six-yard box to win it comfortably,” said joint manager Lee Morris.

“They had a couple of one-v-ones where Damien did brilliantly and then Mason got around him and saved us. But in the second half, I thought we were much the stronger team and should have gone on to win.”

Darryl Thomas missed a golden opportunity from close range towards the end but Lee said: “He’s a confident chap and I’m sure he will come good for us next weekend. We just need someone other than Darryl to score and take some of the pressure off him.”

Lee described Kieron Davies’s performance as “top drawer” and praised the central defensive partnership of Mason Holwell and Joe Pheasant. He was also particularly pleased with Dynamo’s improved fitness.

“You go back to the Chasetown game and we looked dead on our feet, yet on Saturday we looked like the team that was going to score and that’s a major boost for us.”

He revealed that a potential signing would be training with the squad on Thursday with the aim of providing cover in the absence of skipper Rob Norris, who is leaving to go travelling after Saturday’s game at home to high-flying Newcastle.

Describing Newcastle as “a footballing side”, Lee said: “I think against footballing teams I fancy us more than against teams like Chasetown, where there are big, physical lads.”

He added: “I think we are now pretty much with the squad that we are going to work with. The lads are certainly showing enough to be given the opportunity to keep going.”
