Match Report: Quorn (A)

A last minute winner by Kevin Bastos was enough to secure Loughborough Dynamo’s first win of pre season away at Quorn AFC.

It was a useful warm up game for both sides in very hot conditions as both sides continue preparations for the start of their respective seasons in a few weeks time.

Loughborough Dynamo featured two trialists in their starting 11 with another two coming off the bench in the second half as well.

The game started well for the Moes as new striker Isaac Stones received the ball on the edge of the area and fired it past the Quorn goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

However, the rest of the first half was a bit of an onslaught by Quorn who could have been three or four goals ahead if it wasn’t for the Trialist in goal for Dynamo.

But they did manage to get one goal before half time and so both teams went in level at the break at 1-1.

The second half started in the same way the first ended and it didn’t take long for Quorn striker Steve Hart to get his goal and put Quorn ahead.

However, Dynamo fought back and it wasn’t long before midfielder Luke Thorogood equalised when he was left on his own in the middle of the penalty area to poke home past the Quorn keeper.

It wouldn’t be a Dynamo game without a great finish by Kevin Bastos and he popped up in the final minute of the game to win it for Dynamo.

He beat his man on the edge of the box and drove into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful shot and the Quorn keeper had no chance.

It’s pre season so the result doesn’t really matter but it was a good confidence builder for the Moes to beat a decent Step 5 side 3-2.
